Two Weeks on the ’36

Published by John at 6:15 pm under 1936 Chevy

Cutting the top and aligning the “A” pillars

obviously brings the rear of the roof forward:

so I cut the back:

and brought it forward the same amount

and fit-and-trimmed it many times before finally tacking it in place

I still have to curve the rear window surrounds to make them match-up; but other than re-leading the factory seam where it meets the chop-weld, there’ll be little-to-no need for filler:

Two-door cars have longer front doors than their 4-door counter-parts. To keep proportions right, it’s not just a matter “welding the back doors shut”. The rear doors get shortened

and the front door can get lengenthed with the piece that came out of the rear door
